Spitting out the Red Pill

Elliot Rodger’s posts on forums like PUAHate and the angry ideology he spewed in “My Twisted World,” his so-called manifesto, forever linked him with radical misogynists. A journalist spoke to several former Red Pillers, and what they had to say was enlightening as it gives a perspective we don’t often hear.

(For the uninitiated, the Red Pill is essentially a philosophy for people who believe culture lacks a positive identity for men.)

“Joao also believes the Red Pill preys on those who are easily manipulated – be they young, nerdy, insecure, virgins, or simply going through a difficult time in life. Most of the ex-Red Pillers I spoke to were teenagers when they became involved in the subreddit, and most say they were exceptionally lonely at the time.”

“The feelings of inferiority and utter hopeless are indescribable and the worst things I have ever felt in my life,” [Callum] says. “I think that outsiders looking in just deem these people very bitter and angry and don’t understand the long process it takes to get there… It takes a long and drawn out battle with yourself that those people have lost.”
